Because of you, Karina, alumni from Class of 2013, just graduated this year from Georgetown University with a Major in Biology Pre-Med.
The most important thing she learned at San Miguel was perseverance in all things.
As a Latina in STEM coming from a low-income, single-mother home, her transition into Georgetown was very difficult, yet she didn't let these identifiers affect what her goal was… to graduate with a degree from Georgetown.
She persevered in high school, but thrived in college thanks to the resilience and work ethic that was instilled in her from her experience at San Miguel.
She currently works as a medical scribe, where she is gaining first-hand medical experience working side-by-side with medical providers here in Tucson.
