Donation for Social Emotional Counseling

Thanks to the generosity of Arch and Laura Brown, San Miguel’s commitment to the health and well-being of its students through the provision of Social-Emotional counseling is now a reality. The Brown’s gift allowed for the hiring of two Personal, Social-Emotional Counselors who provide short-term brief intervention to meet the needs of students with the following practices and services:

* Support groups (stress management, self-esteem and emotional support)
* Individual counseling
* 1:1 check-ins with every student

Topic-centered parent meetings (communication with students, self-care and stress management)
In person counseling and virtual counseling during remote learning

“We feel strongly that all high school students should have access to equal opportunity IF they want to learn and IF they can handle the work it takes to learn. Inevitably, we mention San Miguel where one can actually see and meet students and watch them grow. Our future leaders are right in front of us learning and maturing. It is truly exciting!” - Arch and Laura Brown
