The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica and the Spanish Department has invited all San Miguel staff and students to participate in the 7th Annual Catrinas and Catrines Competition.
History:
Mexican printmaker José Guadalupe Posada is most famous for the creation of La Calaca Garbancera, an image that later became known as La Catrina. This iconic image of a skeleton lady is traditionally used during Day of the Dead celebrations and has influenced many folk art styles. Posada is considered by many scholars to be the father of Mexican modern art.
