Freshman Theology (Foundational Catholicism & Sacraments)

I love to cook, lift, run, hike, and read. I relish the thrill of adventure - whether a few-hour road trip, a flight somewhere, or a spontaneous outing.
This is such a hard question because I absolutely love food. Lasagna has long been my favorite (alongside pizza), but carne asada in any form has quickly become a favorite here in Tucson. I also have a huge sweet tooth, so feel free to send any cookies, cakes, bars, and more my way (so long as they are not chocolate).
I completed my undergraduate degree at Saint Joseph's University, graduating in May 2020. I double majored in theology and history with a minor in business administration. Now, I am in the second year of a Master's program (Magis) through Creighton University. In May, I will have a Master's of Secondary Education with endorsements in religion and history.
I am grateful that Magis offers holistic support to me as a teacher and a person. Living in community alongside other teachers in the program provides a powerful outlet for the challenges that come up in the first two years of teaching. Additionally, the Magis staff takes time to offer consistent care through check-in meetings, retreats, and monthly faith-sharing. I know that if I need anything there is always someone in my corner.
I moved to Tucson in July 2020, so I have been here for about a year and a half. This is my second year teaching at SMHS.
San Miguel embodies what it means to be a Catholic school. Community grounds all that we do, driving us to care more deeply about the people around us each day. There is an authentic culture of compassion among the faculty and staff which is quickly instilled in the students. I find deep joy each day in amazing conversations with people here - both within and beyond the classroom. I am also grateful to have helped out as a coach for baseball, volleyball, and basketball this past year. Even when the days are long and the nights are short, I am always excited to hop out of bed and come here to work alongside so many amazing students and colleagues.
Catholic schools, especially a Lasallian one like San Miguel, ground themselves in accompaniment. Providing a quality education to students is critical, but I see my primary responsibility each day as walking alongside young people in critical, formative years. I want to get to know each of them on a personal level and make it clear that they are cared for as they are. That is the SMHS way. Go Vipers!
