Once you come on to the San Miguel High School campus, Brother Jack Henderson and his imprint can quickly be seen, felt, heard -- and tasted -- as you walk around. His biology and science initiatives go far beyond just the classroom. His classroom is filled with creatures great and small, and outside the classroom he mentors students on the school’s aquaponics system, native plant identification around campus, and co-chairs the school’s robotics teams.
Brother Jack, born in San Francisco, CA grew up in the Bay Area – East Bay to be specific. He graduated from De La Salle High School, Concord, CA, which is also one of the places where he taught. He studied Biology at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California.
After graduating, Brother Jack influenced the lives of many young people during his time teaching - five years in the Napa Valley, seven years in Concord, CA, and two years in Berkeley. Moving up to Washington State where Brother Jack spent the next 15 years, he taught students in Yakima, WA.
Having moved to Tucson, AZ in 2015, Brother Jack has been inspiring students with his hands-on approach to teaching. From his biology classes, to the time he helps students with the Aquaponics system, Brother Jack’s influence extends beyond the just classroom.
In fact, his influence can reach other cities and sometimes high in the sky with this Co-Coaching the Robotics Teams and Coaching for the Rocket Team.
To infinity and beyond takes on new meaning with Brother Jack and his many talents, which we are blessed to have at San Miguel High School.
