Resilient Together: SMHS continues to grow and innovate

Building upon our successful transition back to in-person learning, the 2022-2023 Academic Year will see curriculum changes that will offer San Miguel students a broader array of intellectual challenges and academic support.

Our new Course Catalog includes new offerings in Math, Computer Science, Health and Wellness, and Advanced Placement.

We have also built an array of Tutorials intended to provide the academic support needed to succeed in the “College Prep” arena.
The Corporate Work Study Program remains resilient, with 298 students deployed in-person at workplaces across Tucson, while continuing to provide innovative opportunities for students and employers in the form of Excel student cohorts, a virtual professional development class, and a remote work-hub for students.
95 incoming freshmen and 4 transfer students have been accepted and 31 students are pending. Admissions is assisting families one-on-one to complete the application process and reduce the cost of enrollment.

College Counseling continues to meet with Seniors twice a week in order to complete next steps and Financial Aid requirements, and to provide tools to help students narrow their college decision.

An Alumni Advisor is also available to begin orienting students for college life.

Social-Emotional Counselors have been providing individual counseling and support groups for students throughout the year. There has also been a focus on providing educational opportunities for students and staff through guest speaker events, providing general information on topics such as mental illness, grief and loss, and other social-emotional topics.

Campus Ministry has remained busy in nurturing our Lasallian Catholic identity through Freshman and Junior class retreats, Spring Kairos retreat for Seniors, Ash Wednesday prayer service, and a Migrant Stations of the Cross service on April 12th.
