Native American art & SMHS: a long tradition

In 2009 twenty-four San Miguel High seniors wanted to create something for future classes, and legacy tradition has continued to this day.

A committee of Native American students formed under the leadership of then-President Elizabeth Goettl and approached local artist Allan Mardon. 

The resulting tiled mosaic incorporated important symbols of Native American cultures Pascua Yaqui, Tohono O'odham, Hopi, Taos Pueblo, and Ojibwe.
