This week our Juniors were on a 2-day retreat with Theology teacher Mr. Schuck.
The first day students took part in a 'water drop' with the Tucson Samaritans. They served migrants that desperately needed aid along the treacherous back-country trails in the border zone near Arivaca, AZ. They then learned about the heart-wrenching complexities of the border issue from ‘People Helping People of Arivaca,’ a local charity that faces the realities head-on. The juniors endured snow, hail, wind and rain along the way…an immersion as much as it was service!
For their second day, Juniors took part in service work at Habitat for Humanity’s main office. Students worked hard re-arranging their large storage space, weeded and pruned trees on the property, wrote thank-you cards for donors and a whole lot more!
We are proud of our students for their commitment to Lasallian Core Principles of Social Justice, Inclusive Community, Respect for all Persons, in addition to Quality Education and Faith!
