Spotlight: Brother David

We were blessed to have Br. David with us for a week as part of his continuing education and formation. This was the first time we were able to welcome an exchange student from Mexico, and the students really enjoyed having a younger Brother around to talk to and learn more about this Vocation.

Learn more about Brother David here:

I'm from Monterrey (city), Nuevo León (state) and I grew up in that city. In 2015, in the beginning of my High School, I got in with the Brothers to start my formation to being a Brother in the city Gómez Palacio. This first step was the Aspirancy. But my parents told me to finish High School in Monterry, so I left the congregation.

In 2018 I got back with the Brothers to start at College in Mexico City. In 2020. This second step was Postulancy. But for different reasons I didn't finish the Bachelor degree in Theology. The principal reason was that in 2020 I started the third step: the  Novitiate. That year I moved to Lagos. In 2021 I finished the third step: professing the vows. With those vows I started to be a Brother and the last stage of the initial formation: the Scholasticate. Now I'm a Scholastic Brother. In this final step of my initial formation I'm learning about the living Brothers. I think that my biggest challenge is to know how to be a Lasalian Brother.

Now I'm in Monterrey studying Theology online, and Education in person.
I was able to visit San Miguel HS after I asked my Director and my Visitor if I could have a community experience in the United States. He asked the Brothers in Tucson if someone wanted or needed a guest and Brother Jesus was the first to raise his hand!

Being at San Miguel HS was a wonderful experience. I felt welcome since the first day -- I was a total stranger, but that didn't concern the teachers or students. I could feel the fraternity at San Miguel. I think that that is the experience of being Lasalian: it doesn't matter where you are or where you are from, if there is another Lasalian, you can feel at home.

I plan to finish my school degrees in two or three more years and when I finish the Scholasticate, I think that I'm going to be in the classrooms here in Mexico being a teacher and still find out more about myself.
