We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Rene Huerta as Interim Vice President of CWSP!
Mr. Huerta has a long history at San Miguel, beginning in 2014 as a soccer coach, where he first learned about CWSP. After asking his players why different grade levels were missing on different days, Mr. Huerta became intrigued with how the work study program functioned. In the Summer of 2015, Mr. Huerta asked to intern for CWSP.
"I fell in love with the community and the mission of SMHS, which led me to want to be here all the time," said Mr. Huerta.
After the initial internship, Mr. Huerta was officially hired, wearing many hats in the department, including CWSP Office Manager Coordinator, Attendance & Department of Labor Compliance Coordinator, Director of Transportation, CWSP Coordinator and, most recently, Interim VP of CWSP.
In his new position, Mr. Huerta is most looking forward to continuing to impact the future workforce through the youth of San Miguel.

"My favorite aspects of working at SMHS are the mission, the community based environment, and the responsibility to develop the current and future workforce," said Mr. Huerta
Although this might seem like an outsized responsibility, Mr. Huerta works with a talent team who gets the job done day in and day out. Mrs Sarah Ochoa (Director of CWSP Operations & Curriculum Coordinator), Ms. Jacqueline Valencia (Growth & Retention Coordinator & CWSP Coordinator), Mrs. Lori Cady (Transportation Coordinator & CWSP Coordinator), Mr. Kevin Brady (Signature Events Coordinator & CWSP Coordinator), and Mr. Christian Teran (CWSP Coordinator), collaborate to accomplish the dual goals of empowering San Miguel youth while simultaneously serving the needs of corporate partners with reliable, high-performing student workers. The CWSP team works yearlong with students to ensure their successful integration into the workplace, training them on skills that will help them to confidently pursue their career goals.
