We hosted Equipando Padres University due to a wonderful opportunity brought to us by Alumna Nayleth Ramirez, Class of 2016. Equipando Padres is sponsored by Raytheon Technologies and the United Engineering Foundation.
Nayleth is currently the ambassador for this initiative in Tucson, AZ.
Their goals with Equipando Padres University are to increase STEM awareness in students and provide tools and knowledge to parents of first-generation students pursuing STEM degrees.
Equipando Padres University has a parent engagement component where they are connected to content, local SHPE engineering students and professionals, and local university resources.
While parents are learning about the program, EPU partners Meta will have a facilitator "take over" computer lab where students 13 and older particpate in a "Code Remix" (coding workshop).
Students develop their own beats and also get to hear directly from Meta employees about STEM careers.
