Pope Francis admires, and constantly offers as an example of being Christian, people living on “the border”. His own testimony invites us to move out so as to respond to peoples’ needs.
Pope Francis admires, and constantly offers as an example of being Christian, people living on “the border”. His own testimony invites us to move out so as to respond to peoples’ needs.
As Church leader, Francis has taught us to be practical when it comes to helping the needy. He knows that if the goal of achieving a more open and welcoming church is to be achieved, ideologies must be relativized and breaks made with the more rigid parts of doctrine, those that impede embracing the human, and looking our brother in the eye.
His call urges us to open up different paths in our fields of action, to experiment with new ideas and services, and not be afraid to push ourselves beyond limits that are self-imposed or imposed by society or by the limits of conventions.
In accordance with the tradition of OUR INSTITUTE. 4th point
Lasallians, by tradition, have gone beyond the borders. This creative impulse comes from our foundation, when John Baptist de La Salle, going beyond the social and religious borders of his time, brought together a heterogeneous group of lay teachers that, in the spirit of partnership was first transformed into community, then into society, and finally into Institute. The Lasallian model was the prototype of all the brotherhoods of education which, in the middle of the 19th century, became the fastest-growing movement in the church. During its more than three centuries of existence, this Institute, which has twice been on the verge of disappearing in France, his country of birth, has spread today to 79 countries where nearly a million students are educated. What are the fundamental principles that have allowed it to continue with such vitality for so long? What can we say about the successful application of these principles in so many and such varied countries and cultures, allowing it to transcend the pre-set differences of race, gender, language and religion?
In general, we could talk about two fundamental principles: the constant preoccupation with the education and empowerment needed to enable the disadvantaged to live with dignity, and the spirit of gratuity and service in the training offered and received in our educational works.

II. Ciudadanos del mundo y más allá de sus fronteras

El Papa Francisco admira y pone constantemente como ejemplo de cristiano a las personas que viven en “la frontera”. Su propio testimonio nos invita a vivir en salida para responder a las necesidades de las personas.
Como líder de la Iglesia, Francisco nos ha enseñado a ser prácticos cuando se trata de ayudar al necesitado. Sabe que, si ha de concretar su objetivo de lograr una Iglesia más acogedora y abierta, debe relativizar ideologías y romper con las partes más rígidas de la doctrina, aquellas que impiden abrazar al ser humano y mirarlo a los ojos como hermano.
Su llamada nos urge a abrir diferentes caminos en nuestros campos de acción, a experimentar con nuevas ideas y servicios, a no temer empujarse a uno mismo más allá de los límites autoimpuestos o impuestos por la sociedad o por las convenciones.
De acuerdo con la tradición de NUESTRO INSTITUTO 4º punto
Los lasallistas, por tradición, hemos ido más allá de las fronteras. Este impulso creativo nos viene de nacimiento, cuando Juan Bautista de la Salle, yendo más allá de las fronteras sociales y religiosas de su época, reunió un grupo heterogéneo de maestros laicos que, en espíritu de asociación, se transformó primero en comunidad, luego en sociedad y finalmente en Instituto. El modelo lasallista fue el prototipo de todas las hermandades de enseñanza que, a mediados del siglo XIX, se convirtió en el movimiento de más rápido crecimiento en la Iglesia. Durante sus más de tres siglos de existencia, este Instituto que ha estado a punto de desaparecer por dos veces en Francia, su país de nacimiento, se ha extendido hoy a 79 países donde educa a cerca de un millón de estudiantes. ¿Cuáles son los principios fundamentales que le han permitido continuar con tanta vitalidad durante tanto tiempo? ¿Qué podemos decir sobre la aplicación exitosa de estos principios fundamentales en tantos y tan diversos países y culturas permitiéndole trascender las diferencias preestablecidas de raza, género, lengua o religión?
De un modo general, podríamos hablar de dos principios fundamentales: la constante preocupación por la educación y el empoderamiento necesarios para que los menos favorecidos puedan vivir con dignidad y el espíritu de gratuidad y servicio en la formación ofrecida y recibida en nuestras obras educativas.
